Characteristic features of cestodes or tapeworms are as follows:

Shape: Flat and tape-like and body is segmented.

Sexes:  Hermaphrodite

Alimentary canal: Only sucker is present. No gut.

Head end: Suckers with or without hooks.

Body cavity: Absent

Names of Cestodes:

1) Taenia solium (pork tapeworm)

2) Taenia saginata (beef tapeworm)

3) Echinococcus Granulosus (dog tapeworm)

4) Diphyllobothrium latum (fish tapeworm)

Diseases caused by Cestodes:

Echinococcosis

Cysticercosis

Diphyllobothriasis
