Clinical History: A 65 year old female with a bullous lesion on the flexure surface of the
left upper arm.
Microscopic features :
Skin biopsy in which the epidermis
is flattened with no evidence of
necrotic keratinocytes. There is a large subepidermal bulla, the lumen of which contains numerous
eosinophils together with a few lymphocytes and neutrophils enmeshed with fibrin.
In areas the papillary dermis festoons into the blister cavity. The underlying dermis is oedematous
and shows a patchy chronic inflammatory infiltrate.
