Clinical History:
A 65-year old obese woman presented with a palpable mass in the lower abdomen.
MR images showed a well defined hyperintense mass (5 x 3.5 cm) of the uterine
body.
Gross appearance of the specimen:
The uterus measured 9 x 7.5 x 5 cm and had an intramural bulging,
well-circumscribed round mass which measured 5cm in maximal diameter.
Cut surface of the nodule was pale-yellow in colour with a relatively soft consistency.
No areas of necrosis or hemorrhages were seen. The serosal surfaces of the uterus and
both the ovaries and fallopian tubes were macroscopically normal.
