Pulmonary Pathology Online Pathology of Primary Monophasic Synovial Sarcoma of the Lung
This is a newly recognized entity in the lung.
The size varies from 1 to 20 cm. and is grossly whitish-tan, rubbery tumour with a homogenous cut surface. There are areas of hemorrhage and/or necrosis. Histologically, the tumour is composed of fascicles of monotonous atypical spindle cells, arranged in a "herringbone" pattern. Biologic behavior is similar to lesions in the soft tissue. The relative absence of biphasic cases reported to date most likely reflects their overall lower incidence in lung. Synovial Sarcoma of the Soft Tissue
